HOW YOGA SPREADED

HOW YOGA SPREAD FROM BHARAT(INDIA) TO THE WORLD

Introduction: Yoga is purely a science of right living as per Hata Yoga and has

to be incorporated into anyone’s daily life. It works on all aspects of a person, viz: the

physical, vital, mental, emotional, psychic, and spiritual. The presence of Yoga in India,

so far as we get from folk traditions, Indus Valley civilization, Vedas, Upanishads,

Ramayana, Mahabharata, and other various mythological scripters are available not only in

India and other countries. In addition to this, there was Pure Yoga which had been

manifested in mystical traditions in Asian countries. In ancient times and still now, Yog

Sadhana was and is being practiced under the guidance of a Guru (A Teacher) and its

spiritual value has got an immense importance both in ancient times and still now. It is

very difficult to say when Yoga was started. It is learned from various scripters that

Yoga was started 5000 years back in India but some people say that it started more than

10000 years ago. Either we know that Yoga started in India and that is incredibly ancient.

HOW IT OUTSPREAD:

As the Sun naturally rises in the East and since the Sun is regarded as the

supreme knowledge, it can be inferred that supreme knowledge rose from the Eastern

Zone of the world Bharat (India) is the center. So Bharat became the epicenter of

knowledge. The rays of this supreme knowledge spread from one corner of East to West,

from Asia to Europe to America and Africa. There was a cultural link between East and

West. As per the Greek Philosophy, presumably, it appears that it is an indistinct

expression of Indian Philosophy. Persian Philosophy was the most advanced and was

the center of cultural exchange from East to West for many centuries. It is learnt that the

Great Philosopher Plato spent 10 years in the East for studies and it is presumed that he

studied Indian Samkhya Philosophy and Patanjali Yoga Philosophy in a Persian

University. The lifestyle of Plato was similar to Indian Philosophers and he was

contemporary of Lord Buddha.  Yoga system and culture of non-violence of the Lord

Buddha was spread throughout Arab, Persia, Syria, Egypt, Palestine, and

countless other countries. However, Indian Yoga culture was adopted by Plotinus who

was a Yogi of Syria and attained Samadhi several times in his lifetime.

It is also learnt that Jesus Christ from the age 18 to 29 years spent his 11 years in India

and these years were neither written in the Bible nor in his Biography. He traveled

throughout Kashmir with the Indian Monks and practiced Yoga and other Indian rituals

in Indian Monasteries. These details can be had from the Library of an Old Monastery

(Himish Math) in Kashmir. The description was published in The Daily News Paper

Statesman and different dailies of London and this was published before the 2nd World

War. The ideals of Jesus was similar to those of the Hindu Monks and Buddhists. Hence,

we can say that Jesus was inspired by the Hindus and Buddhists. In this was Yoga was

outspreaded from Bharat (India) to  the World.

Conclusion:

Yoga's journey outward is not just about physical exercise; it's a shared experience of

mindfulness and self-discovery. The global yoga community thrives on exchanging

ancient wisdom and contemporary interpretations, creating a tapestry of practices that

resonate with people from various walks of life. As we witness the sun setting on

different horizons during a yoga session, it symbolizes the interconnectedness that

transcends borders, proving that the ancient practice from India has indeed become a

universal bridge towards holistic well-being.
