WONDERS OF PRANAYAMA - DISCOVER THE INNER POTENTIAL OF PRANAYAMA
While discussing the Pranayama, my Yoga Teacher and
also Grandmother explained some internal intricacies of Pranayama. I am
explaining what I learned from them.
First of all, this practice is to be learned from a Siddha
Guru for spiritual development. Nowadays, most of Yoga Teachers are
teaching only the physical postures for physical workouts but they are either
ignorant about the spiritual Pranic development or they do not disclose the inner
potential of Pranayama. Since I was only a school-going student at that time, I
could not understand the inner potential of this vast treasure in Hindu culture.
They explained, if you learn from a Siddha Guru and learn to awaken your at least four Chakras, you can hear everything that you want to hear of a
distant place, you can travel anywhere in your subtle body, you can sense
everything what is going to happen and whatever you say that will be final
verdict by the blessings of your Sadguru. On hearing this, I got thrilled and
told my Grandmother I wanted to learn the technique at the earliest. She told me,
if you are interested pray to the Almighty for sending your Sadguru. But it is
very difficult to find out a Sadguru. If the Almighty is happy on you, He will
definitely send someone to take you on this spiritual path. Suddenly, my mind flashed
on that Monk who came to my house and said he will come back after completion of
my 15 years of age. She also warned me about my studies. But I became very eager and restless to learn
this technique. The next day morning, during my school hours on Yoga Class, I
asked my Yoga Teacher about this. But he
either did not disclose the intricacies or he was not aware of the
intricacies. He told me, I could only
explain superficially the types of Pranayama and how to practice.
My Yoga teacher started saying “ According to Yogic Physiology,
the human framework consists of five bodies which account for different
aspects. These five bodies are:
01Annyamaya Kosha
0 Manomaya Kosha
0 Pranamay Kosha
0 Vijnayamaya Kosha
0 Anandamaya Kosha
These five Koshas work together to form an integral whole and the Pranayama works only with Pranamaya Kosha. Here also the Pranamaya Kosha consists of five Pranas. These five Pranas are:
01Prana
0 Apana
0 Samana
0 Udana
0 Vyana
Here only Prana is only a part of Pranamaya Kosha. It is
mainly associated with the respiration and speech. It is the force by which the
breath is drawn inside and exhale outside. Here Pranamaya starts working. It is
a natural practice but we have to take control on this through Pranayama”.
