KUNDALINI YOGA - HOW TO PERFORM
What
is Kundalini :
The
word Kundalini is derived from the Sanskrit word Kundal, which means coiled snake.
Since the word Kundal is masculine and the purpose of awakening this feminine
divine energy, therefore, the word Kundal has been changed to Kundalini. Our main
purpose of Kundalini awakening is to nourish the tree of life within us which
is coiled up like a serpent, therefore its other name is “Serpent Power”. So
far, the information gathered from this yoga practice is the supreme of all yoga. In
this hustle and bustle, people throughout the world are more interested in
physical postures to keep themselves fit and avoid spending a chunk of their
income on Doctors rather than awakening their supernatural power within
them. The awareness of the presence of this prime energy, Kundalini, within the
human body was considered by different sages and saints to be the highest
knowledge. In the Western world, the Lord Jesus suggested Kundalini Awakening
as described in Old Testament for the true destiny of all Christians. But so
far, different Yoga Instructors in the Western world did not properly teach
their students. In Asian countries also, it is being used as a health
benefit tool but they do not properly discuss its immense power within
the human being. Our main objective to attain salvation. The power of Kundalini
Yoga is to attain absolute purity, chastity, self-respect, pure love for divine
power, concern for others, and enlighten attention to gain infinite joy and
peace within the individual.
When
this Kundalini awakens through the practice of Kundalini Yoga, this energy
ascends through the chakras (energy centers) along the spine, leading to a
state of heightened awareness and spiritual awakening. The process not only
aims at spiritual elevation but also at the harmonization of the body, mind,
and soul.
How
to perform Kundalini Yoga:
During
my early stages, I heard the power of Kundalini awakening but my Guruji did not
tell me the process of how to achieve it. When I
expressed my utmost desire to learn, he told me still had to practice more
Kriyas, since I was enunciated in Kriya Yoga. Only he told me to practice
extensively MAHA MUDRA, if possible twice a day. Then I read several books on
how to achieve my target. One day, I got a book “GHERANDA SAMHITA” which describes
how to awaken Muladhara Chakra, my main purpose is to awaken Muladhara Chakra.
As
per Gheranda Samhita, “the procedure for performing Maha Mudra is to sit
straight on the floor with one leg stretched and the other to be kept bent
so that the heel can press the perineum. Then the practitioner should bend
forward to hold the toe tightly without keeping the knee bent and then raise
the head slightly and focuses the gaze on the eyebrow center, perform Pranayama
with awareness on different chakras of the energy center. If this is performed
properly with help of your Yoga Teacher, you can awaken. There is another stage
for achieving the Kundalini Awakening program is to learn KHECHARI MUDRA. This
should not be performed without proper knowledge.
The
ultimate goal of Kundalini Yoga is spiritual enlightenment or the realization
of one's true nature beyond the physical and mental confines. This journey
towards enlightenment involves transcending the ego and experiencing the unity
of the individual soul with the universal consciousness. Kundalini Yoga provides
a structured and disciplined path for this spiritual journey, guiding
practitioners through stages of self-awareness and self-discovery toward
ultimate liberation.
Conclusion:
The importance of Kundalini Yoga lies in its power to awaken the latent spiritual
energy within, leading to a life of greater harmony, health, and spiritual
insight. As more individuals discover and embrace this ancient practice,
Kundalini Yoga continues to shine as a beacon of light, guiding seekers on
their journey towards enlightenment and beyond.
